Happy Birthday Mom!

Today my mom turns 70 years old.  She was the first New Year's baby born in 1938.   My mom is pretty cool.  In 2007, we all went to Disneyland for Jordan's birthday.  We had to get a wheelchair for my mom because her knees hurt so bad.  After that she started drinking some Mangosteen stuff and by our trip to Italy, she was walking and climbing stairs all day long.  She was amazing.  My mom is the most generous person I know.  Once, she told me that I have a heart of gold but that would attribute to her.  When I was growing up, she was always sewing things for us.  Once she made me a bathing suit but what she didn't notice was that the whales were upside down.  I still wore it.  She also stayed up late sewing dresses for Christmas for me and my sister.  When the grandchildren came along, she would always make them things too.  I know I didn't always appreciate my mom growing up, but there was this one day that it just hit me and I realized how much she really does and how much of  it was going unnoticed.   There are so many small things that she does for everyone, not just for her family.  I've learned from my mom that generosity is not something that is learned, it's something that is in you.  Charity is my mom.  She gives and gives which makes it hard for her to take sometimes.  I'm so glad that my daughters get to live near my mom.  I'm glad that she takes the time to play with the great-grandkids.  I'm thankful that she is there for my daughters, granddaughters and grandsons to teach them what a heart of gold looks like.  I hope they can learn from her what I've learned and let the cycle continue.

My mom is awesome.  She the coolest.  Happy Birthday Mom!  I love you!
(this was the only old pic I have of my mom on my comp...I'll have to find a better one!)
