My Dad's Birthday!

My dad turned 70 this month.  That is the reason I went to Phoenix - to celebrate!  I was going to surprise him but Jordan spilled the beans.  She was telling him that I was going there on Monday but my dad couldn't understand her so Madison, not thinking, translated for him!!  It was ok though because my mom played dumb about it so I don't think he thought any more about it.  His birthday was on the 16 but on the day before we had a big party for him at my Aunti Dora's house. My dad hasn't really had a birthday party for a long time so as this is a big birthday, I wanted to do something different for him.  We had a pinata and raspadas, my mom made some yummy meat, Aunti Dora made beans and rice (of course) and also made his birthday cake.   It was an over the hill cake with a man falling over one side of the cake.  Very cute and very good!  We also had the mexican music going.  It was fun!  I'm glad I was able to go.  I think my dad had a good time also. We let all the kids have a turn at breaking the pinata then it was the birthday boy's turn.   I know he had fun trying to break it.   He tried to break off each of the cones so that each kid could have their own to put the candy in but he couldn't do it.  When my cousin pulled on the rope to lift the pinata up, the whole thing came crashing down so I got what was left in the belly and threw it up in the air.  The kids had fun picking up the candy.  Bryson was very protective of his candy in his cone.

I thought those top pictures would end up here but they're on top...I'm still learning...The first picture is my sister, mom, dad and me.  Next is my Uncle John and my dad.  My dad is the older of the two (i'm sure he loves me saying that).  The next pic is of the siblings: my Uncle John, Aunti Dora, Tia Coco, Tia Chacha and my dad.  Missing from the picture are my Tio Tonio and Uncle Manuel (who passed away).  We have a fun family!

That's a good picture of Tata and his siblings, and of him and Uncle John.
